Holly Hunter, an American actor and producer, is known for her acclaimed roles in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The movie Piano won her several awards, among them an Oscar. Actresses have an extensive history of working on Broadway as well as Off-Broadway initiatives. The actress is a lover of acting ever since she was in high school. Her debut role in a play in fifth grade was as Helen Keller. Following a bout of mumps, she went blind on the other side of her ears. This was not enough to stop her desire to pursue a career as an actress. When she was in college studying drama, she moved to New York City with her ambitions in mind. Hunter was trapped in the lift of the playwright Beth Henley when she met her. Together they created Broadway Crimes of the Heart which marked Hunter's Broadway debut. As she relocated to Los Angeles, Hunter tried to land film roles. A supporting role was found for her in Swing Shift. In the years since, she has been in numerous films and television series and movies in a long career that spans more than 30 years. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and also the Women in Film Lucy Award.
